It's a shame that you can't use a Canadian address for gambling sites as we don't have any anti-gambling laws for online. I am so thankful that I am a Canadian and have the freedom to do what I want when it comes to online gaming.

I do know that the laws in the U.S. caused us not to be able to use Neteller anymore for some strange reason. They decided that they wouldn't allow Canadians to transfer from their site to gambling sites and I can't understand that.

Also in Canada when we win a lottery or in gambling our winnings are not taxed either which is a great blessing for us that are hooked on lotteries and gambling.

Oh my, PokerPrincess, how I envy you. Can I use your address in Canada for the next site I sign up at? LOL... just kidding, well sort of. It would be great though not having to worry any about gambling and winning and having to pay taxes on my wins.

Guess the question I have is the legality if I ride across the border and open up a postal box at a canadian UPS store if they exist. Would that then allow me to have my billing address changed so that I could still wager?

Interesting question. I know that their post offices over there have postal boxes that can be used as addresses for everything except parcels as I have a friend who has one. I can't imagine why you couldn't do that and just say that you are renting a home for the time being and don't want it as a permanent address. IMHO.

Actually that's not exactly true, Harper is slowing following the USA's example, he did more so when Bush was in, because as we all know he is a Bush kisser lol. It was because of Harper that Neteller folded in Canada, almost right after it did in the USA. There are many deposit methods now blocked by Canadian banks as well. I don't know how the government can get away with telling people how they can spend thier own money. The money that the government already got a chunk out of with taxes. Whatever happened to "freedom" in our Country anyway?

I'm not sure it was because of the U.S. and Harper that Neteller stopped but if you have credit cards you can still gamble anywhere you want. All I do is use my credit card and I can do anything online that I could do with Neteller. I can also put money into e-wallets as well and do it that way.

Whoever is right doesn't really matter. The fact that you CAN gamble online in Canada is what is important. I am seriously thinking of driving across the border and setting up a postal box and use that as my online address in the different sites. I guess I would also have to get myself either a Canadian bank account or a Canadian credit card as well.

I don't like ewallet, the fees are way to high for my taste. Ewallet charges you to put money in, and take money out. Neteller only charged when you took money out, and it was much lower than the 10% that ewallet charges.

As far as the USA and the online laws there, now you can tell the new president how you feel about Internet gambling at the new White House Office of Public Liaison. http://www.whitehouse.gov/administration/eop/ope/

Unfortunately the use of credit cards at some on-line bingo sites are no longer allowed by some Canadian banks and some sites are having to find new ways for their Canadian as well as US players to deposit. This comes with a whole other set of road blocks for the players as whatever method they use now there will be fees not only for depositing but also for withdrawals. Even when credit cards were allowed by the Canadian banks to deposit to on-line bingo sites or on line casinos they are/were classified as cash advances thereby causing a higher interest rate plus the exchange.

It is true as Canadians if we are lucky enough to win one of the many lotteries that are offered to us we do not pay tax on the initial winnings but it should be noted that once we deposit our winnings into the bank we do pay taxes on any interest that is earned from such deposits, or investments we make. The only way to avoid taxes is to take your million that you win and put it under your mattress or floor boards otherwise the government wants their share.

As far as I know they only take taxes on interest earned. Well if you have good investments and they want to take taxes on the interest I'll live with that because my million dollars are still mine to do what I like with and no tax is paid on that. I'll take that over paying taxes on any winnings of any kind and any gifts that are over a certain amount.
