$1 Bingo

If cost of playing bingo is any sign of success or possible failure then I think that land bingo is taking a hit from online bingo. In my City there is a very big bingo hall that started out before Xmas offering a special for 1 month of $1.00 bingo everyday. Well this brought such a reaction that the hall started to be filled up almost every bingo session everyday because it was so cheap. If they didn't buy the bonus games they could play the session for only $1.00. This became so popular that it is still going on at that same bingo hall. The previously "regular" players hate it because it brought in all the welfare people to play and the only real reason they go now is for the social aspect because their winning has been cut down greatly.

Now this tells me a couple of things. 1. The land bingo is hurting and 2. The big games are going longer so it takes more days for the Jackpot to be won and therefore the odds get greater. Has anyone else heard of this happening in their city or town?

Not anywhere near me but that is a great story- although you have to wonder why the regulars would hate it so much. The more people who play the greater the winnings have the possibility of becoming.

Yes and the more people can get bingo but it seems these people who are filling up the place are the ones that are winning and not the regulars so it is upsetting them.

OK I can see it going both ways. But I think that the biggest problem here is that some people are so resistant to change that they just don't want to see any "new blood" coming in to their space. And I complteely can identify with that ebcause I don't like change a whole lot either. But without change and growth they need to realize that the bingo halls cannot continue to operate and thrive. That does not mean that they have to like it as I am sure it does upset many but they have to be willing to accept that with growth comes new faces and maybe one day they can learn that this does not have to be a bad thing

Well that's for sure, and the other thing to remember is that the bingo halls are a business and they are there to make money. If the only way they can attract people and make money is to have the $1 bingo games then so be it. At least the regulars have the "special" bonus games to play because as you say they don't join into those because they don't have the money. So some things aren't changing and the bingo hall is staying open.

Yup Spunky you are right, bingo is a business even though we do it for enjoyment the people running the bingo halls are in it to make money. So with them, as with everything else in life, they have to change to keep up to the times.
